Having fireworks on the anniversary of Mr G Fawkes's big time failure is, of course, a bit of a tradition.

But much to the disappointment of our neighbours kids (as we later found out) rather than having our own fireworks we headed off to Alton Towers to watch theirs.

Having met up with the Kings and being there well before it got dark we passed the time by going on the rides.

As the inevitable darkness arrived, it would be fair to say that Alton Towers is quite an impressive place in the dark....

...with some truly terrifying sights to behold.

The only way to describe the fireworks display was impressive, so here are a load of photos proving that very fact.  (Sorry, but you will have to make all the normal firework whizzing, whistling and exploding noises yourselves!)
