July 10th 2010, Ilkeston's Got Talent Grand Final
This years final was a battle of singers vs. dancers, adults vs. teenagers, mum vs. daughter.
The Second Semi Final
Following last years format there were Semi Final Heats, three (?) in fact, to decide who got through to the Grand Final.
The Dance Divaz Adults were in the second Semi Final up against a number of singers and a rock band. The Official Program suggested that one of two other acts were scheduled to perform but didn't turn up for whatever reason.
Judging the Semi Final were some now familiar faces. Julie Keightley was back to pass on words of wisdom, as was last years winner Caroline Budden plus a man who's name we cant remember from Ilkestons Rotary Club (sorry)
Of the nights performances there were two stand out singers. The brilliantly named rock band Bury the Ladybird were good too, if a little loud...cue lots of getting old comments. The Dance Divaz were excellent as always.
The Judges clearly agreed as both those singers and the Dance Divaz were put through to the Final.
The Third Semi Final
Was the Divaz Seniors turn. In a mirror of the Second Semi Final most of the other acts on the Bill were singers and there was another rock band. Again it seemed that some acts failed to turn up which was a bit of a shame.
The Judges were almost the same too. Last years winner wasn't there, her place being taken by a man who was a proper talent scout.
Again there were two excellent singers on the night and the Divaz Seniors were brilliant as always.
The Judges agreed as they were the three acts put into the Final.
The Grand Final
And so to the Grand Final.
The Judges had changed again. Last years winner was back, but the man from the Rotary Club had been replaced by a very funny man that worked in the actual West End.
Singers pretty much dominated the Final except for a band, two dancers and of course both sets of Dance Divaz.
Amongst the singers the most impressive was Samuel Barson singing Pavarotti's Nessun Dorma. A standing ovation showed the audience agreed.
Despite excellent performances by both Dance Divaz groups neither were crowned the winner.
That honour went to Ilkestons own Pavarotti.
