July 8th 2009, Ilkeston's Got Talent Final, Ilkeston

The big day had arrived! The lengthy run up to the Final, via the Semi Finals (admittedly the only other round in the competition) was finally over.

Today was the big Final of Ilkeston's Got Talent and with it came a number of changes.

Everyone’s favourite community radio station Erewash Sound (Amazingly still broadcasting 5pm to Midnight every Friday) had enlisted the help of the most annoying Compère to help out, a man who could give the singing women judge a run for her money.

If that wasn't enough, also adding to the excitement was the special celebrity judge.  Non other than Derby's Strongest Man.

The judges, including Derbys Strongest Man

Now that might sound like a bit of a poor claim but this guy is actually quite famous, mainly for balancing cars on his head.

Because we only attended one of the semi finals, some acts we had seen, others we hadn't but they continued in the dancing or singing or playing instruments vein.

Top notch interviewing

After each act this Compère managed to confound the odds by making each interview more painful than the previous one.

The Davy Crocket hat balancer was back, clearly inspired by the fact that Derby's best head balancer was there to see him.

The singing woman judge that wouldn't stop talking about her own singing career decided that she should come and show us how it should be done.  She was pretty good to be fair.

Then after a long break for the raffle, where the new Compère took so long talking to people collecting one of seemingly hundreds of prizes that he actually annoyed his co host, it was back to the talent.

Its that bloody Titanic song again!!!

The girl that sang that song from Titanic, sang that song from Titanic.

Mini Ga Ga's (Leah is on the far left)

And then the Pop Divas came out and danced to Lady Ga Ga's Poker Face.

Poker Face

Strike a pose!

Being interviewed

As ever they danced brilliantly and looked great.

Honestly, be grateful its blurred. We werent so lucky....

Other acts followed including a scary drag act singing, at least we think it was a drag act!!

The Antiques Rogue Show

Whilst the judges judged three old girls, who we had seen before but couldn't remember their name, entertained us with songs from the war.  This time we got their name, the "Antiques Rogue Show"

The Top Three with the winner on the right

Having completed their judging three women singers where deemed to be the top three, with the girl that sang that song from Titanic winning.

So sadly Leah and the Pop Divas didn't win Ilkeston Got Talent, but they will be performing again at Nottingham Royal Concert Hall on October 24th.
