Saturday 1st December, Milton Keynes

Our destination was AirKix in Milton Keynes where, after a short safety briefing, I donned a natty looking jump suit, a bash hat and some goggles making me look a little bit like a fly in order to go indoor sky diving.

Going in

If you picture a huge upside down "Y" shaped building with giant fans blowing air through at 120mph.  Then imagine a thin metal mesh between you and certain death on the blades of those giant fans you are pretty much there.

Bought by Mum and Dad this was my 30 something birthday present, what you get is two one minute flights.  That doesn't sound like much but its actually really hard work and left me really, really aching the next day.

It is a bird!

Until you reach a certain level you don't go in on your own, instead the instructor does his best to stop you bashing into the walls.  He also tries to communicate to you through a series of hand signals, all of which I skilfully ignored.

I think its fair to say that the first part of my first flight wasn't very good, but I did get better.  My second flight was better still.

To be allowed to fly on your own you have to successfully complete 10 different Levels  If Trev the instructor is to be believed he said most people only pass 2 or 3 in their first two flights.  My certificate below says it all.  Outstanding!
