Below is a list of a 101 things I want to do before I die. I started creating the list at the beginning of 2004.

Some of the things on it have already been done, but others have not. I will track my progress here so expect updates every now and then.

Info	Apr 2005 Not exactly letters after my name I can claim to be a fully fledged Scottish Lord. I am now the proud owner of one whole square foot (Yes you read that correctly) of land on the Loch Borralan Estate near Ullapool on the North West coast of Scotland. Conveniently Scottish law states that as a landowner within the Loch Borralan Estate I am now entitled to call my self an Lord or more accurately a Laird. I own Plot No. 2005850 at Latitude: N58:03:05 Longitude W4:56:53. Now all rise before the Honourable Kevin Roper, Lord of Loch Borralan.

Thing	Have a family photo taken in 19th century style.
Why?	I like the idea of having a family photo where we are all dressed in either a Victorian or American mid west style. Think of the photo taken outside the clock tower in Back to the Future III and you get the idea.

Info	Aug 2004 It turns out to be very easy! All you need is a Domain name, someone to host it, software to build the site and a way to transfer the site to your host, easy! Dec 2006 Things have moved on since I last updated this. I now own my own Web hosting Company, so the hosting part is now done in house.

Thing	See the Olympics.
Why?	Imagine what it would be like watching the 100m or the 4*400m final in the Olympic stadium.

Info	Dec 2006 I guess the chances of this happening have improved considerably now that London is hosting the 2012 Olympics.

Thing	See the moon as large as possible from Earth.
Why?	The chances are going there are pretty slim, so this would be the next best thing. If anyone knows where the best place to go to do this is, please email me.

Thing	Stand on the Glass Floor of the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada.
Why?	I don't like heights at the best of time so standing on the glass floor and looking 1350ft straight down would be a big thing for me.

Info	Aug 2003 Went to Toronto so you have to go up the CN Tower. Bloody terrifying looking down at the ground on a glass floor 1350 feet off the ground. Bloody embarrassing as me, a grown man (Some would say!) tiptoed across the glass floor whilst Leah ran across it like it was nothing at all.

Thing	Own an acre of the moon.
Why?	It may be worth something one day!! (even though its most likely I will never go there)

Thing	Have a resting heart beat of less then 50 beats per minute.
Why?	Tis good to be fit.

Info	Aug 2004 Did a lot of cardio gym work on what Bill described as the "Girly" stair climber. However 10 minutes at level 14 was enough to kill you but it did seem to work. I now have a resting heart beat of 48. Dec 2006 Sadly due to a number of reasons, mostly falling into the lazy category, my heart runs a little faster these days. I am now trying to get fitter and am currently weight training 3 times a week. Current heart rate to be confirmed.

Thing	Run up the Rocky Balboa steps in Philadelphia
Why?	I fancy recreating the moment when Rocky runs up the steps in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia. "gonna fly now, higher"

Thing	Adopt an animal.
Why?	There are a lot of endangered animals in the world like the Panda, Bengal Tiger or the Black Rhino so it would be cool to do something that gives them a better chance of survival.

Why?	Really don't find the idea of working till I'm 67 particularly appealing, so need to do something that gives me enough money to live on so that I can retire as early as possible.

Thing	Take part in a Time Team dig.
Why?	Partly to be on TV and partly because Id like to think I could find something important. Though the truth is more likely to be finding a Roman roof tile or a series of small walls just like they always do.

Thing	Buy a house abroad and live in it for at least a year.
Why?	Like the idea of saying "lets go and live in our house in such and such, and stay there for a year" Chances of being able to do that before retiring are probably not great but the chances of buying property abroad aren't bad.

Why?	Other than being able to control going up or down, there is something very cool about not knowing where you will end up or what you could see.

Info	Jun 2006 Bought Mum and Dad a balloon flight as a joint birthday present. Made me want to do it even more! The minimum age is 12 so we will wait till Leah is old enough, then we can all go.

Thing	Own and run my own business
Why?	Have decided to give up being an Employee and head off into the world of the "IT Consultant".

Info	Oct 2004 I could of set up an Umbrella company and avoid some of the hassles but have decided that I like the idea of having my own Limited Company so have set up Testing Plus Ltd IT Consultancy and Web Hosting Services. Testing Plus was registered as a Limited Company at Companies House on the 15th October with me as the Director and Tracie as the Secretary.

Thing	Ride on the Orient Express.
Why?	Just fancy a ride on the Worlds most famous train

Thing	Spend the day with a Formula 1 Team.
Why?	Because I want to!

Info	Jun 2003 Absolutely brilliant! Me and Chris spent the day with the Jaguar Formula 1 team while they tested at Silverstone. Got to go off roading in a Freelander before watching Ferrari, Sauber, BAR, Williams and Jaguar testing from inside the British Racing Drivers Clubhouse, which is very, very posh indeed. Watched the teams practicing from the pit lane and Michael Schumacher walked past us in spitting distance eating an ice cream. Best bit of the day was as spending time inside the Jaguar garage itself. They told us to wear ear plugs, while in the garage which we laughed at in a manly fashion, until they switched on the engine!!!! July 2010 Proving you cant get too much of a good thing Kev repeats this one and goes to watch the German Grand Prix at the Williams Formula One Teams factory in Grove. Thing	Grow then eat the worlds hottest pepper.
Why?	I like very very hot food. If it makes you sweat whilst you eat it, all the better.

Info	Aug 2004 Did a bit of digging around and I believe the hottest pepper in the world is one called “Satan’s Kiss” Its a small red pepper about the size of a golf ball and supposedly unbearably hot. Managed get to hold of some seeds off the internet and started to grow them in early 2004. By August they had reached full size and so we tried them so I cut a tiny slice off one and ate it. F*ck me it was hot, even that tiny tiny slice made my mouth burn and caused me to break into a sweat. It was so hot that it actually scarred my tongue, a scar that is still there today. The peppers where so hot that we didn't know what to do with them. I ended up having to pickle them so we could eat them, now they have gone sweeter and are very nice in pasta (Cooking lesson over) If Satan’s Kiss is not the worlds hottest pepper then I don’t want to try what is.

Thing	Take part in a "run what you brung" drag race.
Why?	Want to turn up at a drag strip and race down the quarter mile in the same car I drove to get there.

Info	Dec 2011 Took part in a Arctic Circle ceremony during a trip to Finland to acknowledge the fact that we had crossed into the Arctic Circle. Not quite a trek to the North pole but its a start!

Thing	Own the first car that made you go “Wow!” when you were a kid.
Why?	That’s the Mk1 Golf GTI for me. I don't want a boy racer one instead I want one in as near original condition as possible. Something like this. Though it would have to be red, and have the Pirelli "P" Alloys.

Why?	Pratt! To save having to go out the back door, all the way round the conservatory just to get to the freezer in the garage. It doesn't sound like much of a problem, its just a pain to do if its raining!!

Thing	Have a proper wet shave with a cut throat razor.
Why?	Always been an electric shaver person, before I grew the beard anyway, so quite fancy having a proper shave at one of those old fashioned barber shops, the ones where they sharpen the razor on a belt. Supposed to be relaxing having a cut throat razor right next to your throat!

Why?	My favourite rock band when I was a kid that is having a bit of a revival with me at the moment. I want to know if they are as good (or bad) as I remember!

Info	May 2010 toured the UK for the first time in 15 years, so me and Chris went to see their Sonic Boom Over Europe tour in Sheffield. A 2 hour show on a monster stage with huge TV screens combined with explosions, flames, a massive amount of fireworks, rockets and of course the huge sign all added up to an amazing show. Whilst blasting out some of their best songs, Gene did his fire breathing act as well as a bit of flying to perform on a stage up in the lighting rig. The massive drum solo was so loud it felt like you where being punched and the guitar solo made your ears hurt. Impressive! Not to be outdone, Paul did a bit flying of his own. Out over the crowd. You could even buy a USB stick complete with the whole concert recorded on it after the event. It would have been rude not to have one!

Thing	Take part in a proper FIA organised Motor Racing Championship.
Why?	Want to take part in some kind of motor racing championship. Not because I have grand illusions of becoming a World Champion its so I can say I completed in an officially sanctioned racing series as a genuine racing driver.

Thing	See the Aurora Borealis.
Why?	Another great natural phenomenon that has the bonus of needing to go to Norway to see it.

Thing	Have reduced the amount of CO₂we generate by being as energy efficient as practical and recycling more of our waste.
Why?	Want to be able to say that we have done everything that is practical to reduce our consumption of gas, electricity, water and have recycled as much as possible and therefore produced as little CO₂ as we could.

Why?	Not because I'm a tight arse but because the more I'm paying, the more "they" are making and therefore there must be more chance of a reduction!

Jan 2007 Travel Insurance of £186.75 to be paid by Thomas Cook when we booked our holiday to LA. Jan 2007 £5.25 given as a complimentary gesture from Vodafone after their system wouldn't allow me to top up Leah's mobile because it didn't have enough money left on it. Feb 2007 £8.50 refunded by a Derby Restaurant after Tracie found a bit of wood in her meal. Feb 2007 £10 discount agreed with Limo Hire company when sorting Leah's birthday party out. June 2007 £30 discount from B&Q when buying our new bathroom sink and taps. July 2007 £500 off the price we were quoted for a shower by one company by finding it ourselves on the internet. August 2007 Didn't realise it at the time we booked it but we got approx £35 worth of fuel in the hire car we had in Los Angeles. Doesn't sound like much in British money but that worked out be be about 22 gallons worth of petrol. October 2007 £110 discount from Curry's when buying a new Camcorder. December 2007 Total of £40.46 when buying various Nintendo WII accessories from eBay rather than a normal shop. Saved £100 when our TV was returned because of a faulty and we bought the same one again but for £100 less.

Info	Apr 2004 Had a Celtic design across my back. To date this is still one of the most painful things I have ever done. Sweated like a pig whilst it was done and was told that most blokes pass out if they have a tattoo over their spine, "that's why someone had to sit in front of you whilst its done......in case you faint!!"

Thing	Learn to Roller Blade.
Why?	Could never roller skate as a kid, would like to roller blade as an adult.

Info	Feb 2004 Went to Rollerworld in Derby. Tracie is an excellent skater gracefully gliding from left to right through the crowds. I could only manage to go straight and left in an incredibly wobbly fashion. Leah was barrelling round as fast as she could, waving her arms around like a demented windmill.

Why?	Assuming it ever snows again in this Country then I will be making snowballs and putting them in the freezer. That will probably mean I end up with balls of solid ice rather than snowballs but we will see what happens.

Why?	Fancy having a go at snorkelling anyway, but if you are going to do it, do it in style.

Thing	Explore the Lascaux caves and see the 20000 year old cave paintings.
Why?	The original cave is in south-western France has been closed since 1963 as the CO2 produced by 1200 visitors per day was destroying the paintings. So will have to settle with seeing reproductions of 2 of the caves opened in 1983 at the Centre of Prehistoric Art in Le Thot instead.

Info	Aug 1993 Happened to go to the Kennedy Space Centre on the day the shuttle was supposed to launch. It wasn't planned it was complete luck. Sadly the launch was cancelled and all we got to see was the shuttle stood on its launch pad. Even then its hard to see as it was over 3 miles away. Next time!!

Why?	I think in truth to be anywhere near realistic this should say “own a company (See 17) that makes a million pounds” Either way I don’t mind.

Info	Feb 2005 Had 2 Snowboarding lessons at the Snowdome in Tamworth. Realised that having 2 lessons back to back was far too much like hard work and that I'm crap at Snowboarding. Feb 2008 We will be having another got at learning this in May this year. May 2008 Yep, am still crap at it.

Thing	Ride in the cockpit of a plane.
Why?	I guess to have any chance of this happening it should read "Ride in the cockpit of a jet passenger liner" I would love to see what it looks like from the front rather than the side, but I imagine that since Sept 11th this wont be possible.

Info	Wayback when My first ever flight was in a small single engine propeller driven plane. Me, mum and Dad and Damon went up on a "pleasure flight" which I cant say I enjoyed. However I did get the view through the cock pit window, which wouldn't have been difficult as our family car was probably bigger on the inside than this plane was. Its wasn’t too bad until the pilot asked my dad if he wanted a go....my dad cant even drive a car...that's when panic set in.

Why?	Would be much better than scattered around the house in drawers and cupboards etc

When I was getting on the plane the same guy came over to me and asked me if anyone had ever said I looked liked Dave Grohl. I guess this isn’t truly being mistaken for a celebrity, but its close enough. Feb 2005 Was buying a cup of tea in the Barclaycard restaurant when the woman on the till said "You don't half look like that singer from the Foo Fighters" Still had to pay for the tea, I'm sure DG would have got it free! July 2005 Stopped in Flares by a drunk bloke shouting "its Dave Grohl" at the top of his voice. May 2006 Woman at BT telling a colleague that she thought I looked like "Dave Grosh"...close enough July 2006 Stopped in walking down the street in Portsmouth by a bloke, asking if "anyone has ever said......" Cant remember when 2006 Leaving local Co-op a bunch of kids outside started singing "Learn To Fly" Sep 2006 Out drinking in Ilkeston. One bloke saying "Fcking hell you look like Dave Grohl" and wanting to know if I would sign his knob! Followed by 2 girls asking if "anyone has ever said...." Jan 2007* One of the nurses at Nottingham's QMC asked if I had deliberately grown my hair and beard to look like DG. Feb 2007 Shouts of "See ya Dave Grohl" as I left the Canal house pub in Nottingham. May 2007 Leaving the Ilkeston Beer Festival, a group of girls shouting "There's Dave Grohl! there's Dave Grohl!" Andy Parkinson's 25th wedding anniversary Girls asking if I was "Him", getting the DJ to play Foo Fighters songs and wanting me to dance with them. Aug 2007 Guy in a shop in Los Angeles asking if ever any one I looked like Dave Grohl. Aug 2007 Heathers cousin asking "shouldn't I be at the V festival?" Oct 2007 When going to see Isla, Heathers friend saying "You look like Dave Grohl" 2008 and 2009 Stopped counting cos there was quite a few. Jan 2010 Women at the gym saying "Has anyone every said?" May 2010 Whilst at the concert, got asked "When am I going to release some new songs?"

Thing	Stand on an iceberg.
Why?	Saw this on a programme where some guy was flying round the world in a microlight. The people filming him were in a helicopter, which landed on an iceberg to film Seals or something. It just looked amazing so would like to do something similar.

Why?	This looks like a toss up between writing to Leonard Nimoy to tell him that I thought the way his autobiographies, "I Am Not Spock" and "I Am Spock", were written was brilliant or writing to Charley Boorman to say how much I enjoyed "The Long Way Round" and the "Race To Dakar" books.

Info	Aug 2003 Closest so far was in an Airbus 330 flying back from New York. We were told there was a slight tail wind so the flight time would be shorter. The little map thing they show on the TV screens showed that at one point we were travelling at 640mph. I probably wouldn't have took much notice if it wasn't for the cabin crew who keep saying to each other "Have you seen how fast we are going!" so it must have been fast. 640mph is Mach 0.84

Generally it was brilliant fun, much faster than using a car (Saved me at least an hour a day) but when it rained….oh dear! And then there was the time I got knocked off…….. Had it modified a bit and once had it past 70mph (briefly) on the ring road…all from a 50cc. Sadly my new job being self employed means this was no longer a practical way to get to work.
